Normally you can only visit Christie Walk on our regular paid tours. But for Sustainable House Day 2024 – Sunday April 21st – we are offering free guided tours.
Bookings are essential. Tours start on the hour from 11am to 2pm. Please select your time slot and book your tickets here.
Christie Walk is an enduring model of sustainable living in the middle of Adelaide’s CBD.
This unique urban community of 27 dwellings includes apartments, standalone strawbale houses, and townhouses.
Sustainable design features include:
- passive solar design
- photovoltaic cells with battery storage
- solar hot water – flat plate and evacuated tubes
- composting
- underground stormwater storage
- community spaces – meeting room, laundry, bike shelter, produce garden, roof garden
Christie Walk was purpose-built as a model ecocity development. It’s designed to showcase how biodiversity, low emissions and community-living can be fashioned into a vibrant and verdant inner-city development.
